Verify only regulated carts
The age check fires only when the cart holds a product flagged as regulated. Everyone else checks out with no extra step, so you keep your conversion rate on everyday items.
Verify every checkout
Every order requires a passed verification. Best for stores where the whole catalogue is age-restricted.
Flag what’s regulated once
Mark a single product, or flag a whole category or tag and let every product in it inherit the rule.
- Per product. An AgeWallet tab on the product edit screen sets Not Regulated, Regulated or Override.
- Per category or tag. A Regulated checkbox on the term edit screen covers every product in it, including product categories.
- Audit trail. In Conditional mode, a
cart_triggersrecord shows exactly which products, categories or tags fired the check. - Cart context. Cart hash, total, currency, line-item count and billing country are attached to each checkout verification, so you can match it to the order.

Cache-safe
Strict mode automatically skips caching for the cart, checkout and My Account pages, so a cached page never leaks one customer’s cart to another. Tested behind Cloudflare, Varnish, WP Rocket and LiteSpeed.

WooCommerce age verification questions
How do I add age verification to WooCommerce?
Install the free AgeWallet plugin from WordPress.org, activate it, re-save your permalinks, and paste your AgeWallet Client ID and Client Secret into the setup wizard. Then choose a checkout mode on the Content Guarding screen and flag your regulated products, categories or tags.
Can I verify age only for some products?
Yes. Set Checkout Gating to Conditional on Cart and mark products as Regulated, either one by one or through their categories and tags. Customers buying only unregulated items check out normally; anyone with a regulated item in the cart verifies first.
Does it work with WooCommerce High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS)?
Yes. The plugin declares HPOS compatibility.
Will it break my cart or checkout caching?
No. In High Security (Strict) mode, AgeWallet automatically skips caching for the WooCommerce cart, checkout and My Account pages, so one customer’s cart is never served to another.
Does my store keep customers’ ID documents?
No. Verification runs on the AgeWallet service and your store receives only a pass or fail result. No identity documents or personal identifying information are stored in your WordPress database.
What does WooCommerce age verification cost?
The plugin is free. You pay $0.30 for each completed verification, with no setup fee or monthly minimum, and new accounts start with $5 of credit.
Does this replace ID checks at delivery?
No. AgeWallet verifies the buyer online before checkout. Where a law also requires an adult signature or an ID check when the order is delivered, that step stays with your shipping carrier.
